I was born within a mile of this beach and spent a carefree childhood climbing the rocks, swimming in the sea and playing on the shell-rich sand. There is a steep shelf just beyond the shoreline and as the tide comes in, it creates a huge swell, with powerful breakers crashing down. In the distance, like a sleeping guardian, is the Treryn Dinas headland with Logan Rock.
As you look at the painting, the foam of the breaking waves appear to have a luminance about them, created by the colours I've used to create depth and shadow.
Painted using brush and palette knife on canvas board and varnished for UV protection. Supplied unframed, it measures 457mm x 356mm (18" x 14"). Certificate of authenticity included.
