"Ah Sun-flower! weary of time, Who countest the steps of the Sun, Seeking after that sweet golden clime Where the travellers journey is done." (William Blake)
This painting is an explosion of rich colour, painted in acrylics on deep edged canvas. The symbolism of the painting emanates from the sweet nectar of the sunflower, irresistable to the insects which, on landing, disperse a cloud of pollen, like fragments of gold. Thus the cycle of life for the sunflower continues, whilst the nectar itself symbolises the elixir of immortality or amrita (Hindu mythology). The butterfly, having taken its fill of the elixir, sits poised, ready for its flight to eternity.
The painting measures H:18" x W:14" x 1.4" and is ready to hang without requiring a frame. The canvas edges are painted dark blue and it has been varnished for protection from UV and pollutants.
It is supplied with a signed certificate of authenticity.
