"Ladybird, ladybird, Fly away home, Your house is on fire, And your children all gone..." (unknown) c. 1744
This is one of my original insect paintings, inspired by the poem and a desire to capture the magical way in which a ladybird's delicate lacy wings unfold to carry her away on the breeze. Whenever this has been exhibited, people have remarked on this, so I'm pleased that I was able to create the illusion. It's a very sweet, detailed painting and I'd be delighted to find a home for it.
It's painted in acrylics on premium triple primed cotton canvas and the sides of the canvas are painted to blend with the painting. Two layers of varnish have been applied, which will help protect from UV and pollutants.
The painting measures 8" x 8" x 1.4" and does not require a frame. It is easy to keep clean, as all you need to do is occasionally wipe with a damp lint-free cloth.
I supply a certificate of authenticity with all my original artworks, which always a nice touch if the painting is intended as a gift.
